PRAWN CURRY


This recipe was given to me from my mom. It's delicious. 


Ingredients

1/2 kg prawn , cleaned and deveined
Pinch turmeric powder
1 big onion sliced finely 
1 tomato finely chopped
1-2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1-2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp coriander powder
2 tsp fennel powder
1 tsp pepper powder
 1-2 small pieces kodampuli
1 tsp vinegar
1-2 tbsp coconut oil
Salt to taste


Method

Place cleaned prawn in a pan along kodampuli, turmeric powder and salt . Boil for 10 minutes and drain off water along with kodampuli.
Heat a nonstick frying pan , pour oil and add sliced onions , saute till light brown. 
Add chopped tomatoes , saute it until mushy.
Add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell goes off. 
Now add chilli powder, coriander powder, fennel powder, pepper powder, salt and saute well so that all spices mix well with onion mixture.
Add cooked prawns , add 1/2 cup water and cook on low flame until all spices get coated on prawns. 
Now add 1 tsp vinegar and check for salt. 
Cook for 1-2 minutes and yummy prawn curry is ready to eat with steamed rice.

PRAWN CURRY WITH COCONUT MILK


Ingredients


250 gm Cleaned prawns 
2 medium Onion , finely sliced 
3/4 tbsp Ginger & Garlic  finely chopped,
1 Tomato sliced or 1 tbsp tomato puree 
1 tbsp Thick Tamarind Pulp
1-1 1/2 cups Thick coconut milk
Curry leaves
1 tbsp coconut Oil
Salt

To grind 
2 tsp Chilly powder 
1 tsp Pepper powder 
1/4 tsp Jeera 
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

Method

Grind together the ingredients listed under 'to grind' to a fine paste using ½ tbsp water.
Heat oil in a pan and add finely sliced onions, chopped ginger & garlic. 
Cook it till the onions become soft. Add the ground paste to this and fry for a few minutes, till the oil starts appearing. 
Add the sliced tomatoes or tomato paste  & tamarind pulp to this and cook for 2-3 minutes. 
Add coconut milk & salt to this. Let it boil.
 Add cleaned prawns, & curry leaves. 
Cook till the prawns are done and the gravy is thick.
Serve hot with rice.

Notes

You can adjust the qty of tamarind pulp to suit your taste. Adding 1 cup of thick coconut milk gives you a thick gravy .Adding at least 1¼ cups of coconut milk will give your more gravy.

PRAWN MASALA CURRY





Ingredients

20 nos large Prawns
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp fennel seeds
3/4 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp raw rice
1 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
1 onion finely chopped
1tsp  ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp tomato purée
1 tsp mustard seed
6-8 curry leaves
Salt as per taste
Few coriander leaves
2 tbsp coconut oil

Method

Clean prawns , marinate with Turmeric and 1 tsp chilli powder and salt. Keep it aside for 1 hour.
Heat oil, add fennel seeds, cumin seeds, rice, coriander power roast it.  Turn off the flame and add 1 tsp chilli powder.
Grind the above spices and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds, curry leaves. After it splutters add onion , sauté . 
Add ginger garlic paste fry until raw smell goes off.
Add tomato purée , cook .
Add prawns and ground masala along with salt , turmeric . 
Boil until prawns are cooked 
Add coriander leaves.

PRAWN FRY






Ingredients

500 gms Prawn cleaned and deveined
1 tbsp  chilli powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp pepper powder or as per your taste
Salt as per taste
6-7 curry leaves
2 tbsp olive oil

Method

Combine all the ingredients and make a paste. 
Marinate the prawns with this paste and keep aside for half an hour. 
Heat oil in a pan , add curry leaves , add marinated prawns and shallow fry it for 5-7 minutes.
If you fry it for long, the prawns will become hard.
Serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy this spicy and tasty prawn fry. 
Notes: Using coconut oil will enhance the flavor.

PRAWN CURRY


Ingredients
1/2 kg prawn cleaned and deveined
2 onions finely sliced
2 tomatoes thinly sliced
2 tsp gingergarlic paste
2tsp chilli powder
11/2tsp coriander powder
1 tsp pepper powder
2 tsp fennel powder
Salt
1-2 piece kodampuli
1tsp turmeric powder
2tbsp olive oil
 1 tsp vinegar

Method
Boil water in a pan . Add the cleaned n deveined prawns , kudampuli with salt and turmeric.
Cook the prawns for 10 mins.
After prawns are cooked drain the water along with the puli.
Place the prawns in a seperate bowl . Don't throw the drained water.
Heat a non stick frying pan . Add olive oil , after oil is warm add onions and saute till soft.
Add gingergarlic paste and saute it till raw smell goes off.
Add tomatoes and saute till soft.
Add chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder , fennel powder and salt.
Mix well untill  all the spices blend with onion n  tomato mixture.
Now add boiled prawns to this masala and saute well.
Add 1/2 of the drained water and vinegar .
Cook for 10 more mins.
Yummy prawn curry is ready .
Enjoy it with chapati or rice.
